In late July, a delegation of 23 people (youth and adults) from the Presbyterian Church of Mauritius arrived in Madagascar for a week of discovery, sharing, and fellowship centered on the theme of the CEVAA’Shared Action : “Living in Creation Differently.”

Organized as part of the exchange project for children and preteens from the islands (recommended by the Cevaa’s Youth and Activities Coordination), the gathering—which took place at the Fofikry Center in Ilafy—was a wonderful opportunity for young people from Madagascar and Mauritius to share experiences, build bonds, and learn about each other’s cultures.
The program, which consisted of jointly led worship services, times of prayer, and biblical reflections based on Luke 9:23 and the Book of Proverbs, prompted participants to reflect on the responsibility of believers toward Creation.
Eco-citizenship took concrete form during a day spent in Imerinkasinina and at the Auberge Tsarajery, exploring eco-friendly agricultural and livestock initiatives.

The mission also took the form of solidarity during moving visits to the Akany Avoko and Topaza orphanages, where food, toys, and smiles were shared.
“Beyond the visits, this exchange allowed our children to discover the daily lives of their Malagasy brothers and sisters, to live out their faith together, and to form genuine friendships. Everyone returns home having grown, with a keener awareness of our duty toward Creation.” Pastor Ginette Dennemont, Sunday School leader at EPIM.

After this week of fellowship, the goodbyes gave way to a keen sense of anticipation. In 2027, the second phase of this Cevaa project will see the Malagasy children fly to Mauritius in turn. This is a fruitful human and spiritual adventure that demonstrates the vitality of fraternal relationships within our Community of Churches in Mission.
