The young people in our churches are committed to creation.
At the last General Assembly, Omer Dagan, executive secretary of the Cevaa's youth and activities division, presented the youth strategy on creation. Formulated in the form of a plea, the approach presents the missions of youth leaders and their commitments to experiencing creation in a different way.
We, the youth of Cevaa, condemn the destruction of ecosystems; overconsumption and unbalanced consumption; waste; excessive use of pesticides and chemicals in agriculture; chronic exposure to radio frequencies; perpetuated social and environmental injustices; artisanal open-pit mining; and overfishing.
We, the young people of Cevaa, have decided to adopt eco-friendly practices; to replace plastic packaging; to establish a network of young people from Cevaa to protect the environment; to convince our churches to advocate for climate justice; to encourage churches to raise awareness among their congregations; to encourage our churches to implement carbon offsetting; to pray for fair and responsible decisions.
We, the young people of Cevaa, have decided to reduce our air travel as much as possible; to reduce our meat consumption to once every two days; to promote responsible water management; to limit the printing of documents; to plant a tree during our international meetings and to ensure its maintenance.
We, the youth of Cevaa, affirm our commitment to become faithful guardians of God's creation; to become responsible stewards of all that God has created; to recognize human responsibility in the face of the ecological crisis.
Young person of Cevaa, stand up, because this matter concerns you.
Get up and act. The Lord will be with you.
This message must be repeated at all youth gatherings, intergenerational worship services, and events.
